When We're Singin'

Audio Clip: WBWC 88.3 Interview and PF music with Dennis King!

Here's the link for my interview last night on WBWC 88.3 with host Dennis King. Jeff Pike, a big supporter of WHEN WE'RE SINGIN', called in last night from Georgia and afterward he put together an edit of the full three hours so that we could share only the part of the show that was "All Partridge." (an hour and 23 min) Thanks a million, Jeff! This interview was really fun because it was so casual, and King is a big PF fan himself. I hope you like it.

This is the first time that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has hosted any kind of event regarding The Partridge Family or David Cassidy. Their support and endorsement of this book is a huge honor for The Partridge Family music and all the fans who have loved it and believed in it so very much through the years. It is a powerful nod to The Partridge Family as noteworthy to pop music history.

For all the David Cassidy fans who have worked so very hard to get the attention of the HOF in hopes of nominating Cassidy as an inductee, this event is a winning first step. If you signed those petitions, I hope you will make every effort to be there and show the support for Cassidy's early music.

See you at the Rockhall! --John

WHBC out of Canton will be hosting me today at 10AM for a special interview about the book on The Gary Rivers Show! WHBC is a very popular and established local radio station in Canton, Ohio and the The Gary Rivers Show often does retro/nostalgia themes on their program. They took an interest in WHEN WE'RE SINGIN' as David Cassidy was huge in this area, playing Canton OH in one of his earliest concert appearances in 1971. I hope you will all tune in! http://www.whbc.com/shows/gary-rivers-show/

WHEN WE'RE SINGIN - THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY AND THEIR MUSIC WITH JOHN MILLER

JOHNNY RAY MILLER authored the definitive Partridge Family book When We're Singin': The Partridge Family & Their Music," a 468-page hardcover volume with 64 color pages of rare photos, magazine and album covers and fan-collected memorabilia from the Partridge's 1970s heyday. To compile in-depth stories about the Partridge Family TV series and records, Miller interviewed more than 100 people, including series stars Shirley Jones, Danny Bonaduce and Dave Madden, record producer Wes Farrell and rock photographer Henry Diltz. Cassidy contributed a brief foreward. Since the release of When We're Singin' last December, the reaction has been phenomenal, said Miller. "I have gotten hundreds of letters thanking me for this book." The VP of Bell Records (the Partridge's label) and the designer of their album jackets both started their letters with ‘Wow!' Brian Forster (who played by drummer Chris Partridge) said, ‘I'm learning things about the show I was in that I never even knew!' Most thrilling for Miller was the reaction of Cassidy, his lifelong idol. "He has been so supportive," Miller said.  Cassidy allowed Miller to sell copies of the book in the lobby at one of his final concerts at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA and he sold out.  Now 66, Cassidy has announced that he'll retire from performing at the end of this year.
